Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

“PatternGrade” refers to the operator of the website at patterngrade.com and the application at app.patterngrade.com. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

2. What we collect

Account information

• Email address
• If you sign in with Google: your Google account name, email, and avatar URL
• Optional profile fields you choose to fill in: display name, bio, phone number, locale, timezone
• Which language version of the agreement was shown to you when you signed up, and whether you elected the English version (see section 10)

Usage data

• Tickers you view, follow, or add to a watchlist
• Watchlist contents
• Recently viewed tickers
• Pages visited and feature interactions, for product analytics
• Standard server logs: IP address, browser, request paths, error traces

What we do not collect

We do not collect brokerage credentials, account balances, trade history, or any data from third-party brokers. PatternGrade is a research tool — not a brokerage integration.

3. How we use your data

• To provide and operate the Service.
• To send transactional emails (verification, password reset).
• To improve the product — which scanners are useful, where users get stuck, what to fix.
• To prevent abuse and secure the Service.
• To keep a record of what you agreed to, in which language, and when.

4. Who we share data with

We share the minimum amount of data necessary with vetted service providers:

• Authentication providers (Google OAuth, our authentication backend) — to verify your identity.
• Hosting and database providers — to run the application and store your account data.
• Email delivery providers — to send verification and transactional emails.
• Analytics providers — to understand product usage in aggregate.

We do not sell your personal data to anyone.

5. Cookies

We use cookies and similar storage to keep you signed in, remember preferences (theme, language), and measure aggregate usage. The language cookie holds nothing but the two-letter code of the language you chose to read the legal documents in. You can clear cookies in your browser at any time, though that may sign you out.

6. Data retention

We keep account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or accounting reasons — which includes the record of which version of the agreement you accepted.

7. Your rights

• Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate data via your profile settings or by email.
• Request deletion of your account and personal data.
• Object to or restrict certain types of processing.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@patterngrade.com. You may write to us in English, French or Spanish, and we will answer in the language you wrote in.

8. Security

Passwords are hashed with bcrypt; we never store them in plain text. Email-verification and password-reset tokens are hashed before storage. Traffic is encrypted with TLS. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to follow current best practices.

9. Children

PatternGrade is not intended for users under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Language of this policy

This policy is published in English, French and Spanish, and the translations say the same thing this version does. It forms part of the Terms of Service, and which language version binds you is decided the same way: by the language section of those Terms. If you are a consumer in Québec, the French version binds you unless you expressly elected the English one when you signed up.

11. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced via email and on this page, in all three languages at once.
